Postnatal Assessment

A Postnatal Assessment is a specialist postnatal examination for women following both vaginal and caesarean deliveries. It will assess how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and stomach muscles are recovering after birth. And if they’re not, then we can provide you with exercises and treatment to help in your recovery and to return to exercise safely.

A Postnatal Assessment is advised from 6-8 weeks after having a baby but doesn’t just have to be for new mums, it can be done any time post natally if you’re worried about any symptoms since giving birth.

I offer a 75-minute appointment, which will cover everything from pre-baby symptoms, previous pregnancies and deliveries and current symptoms. We will discuss your previous exercise level and types of exercise and sport so together we can set your goals.

Pregnancy Physiotherapy

Pregnancy is an incredible journey - but it can also place new and sometimes unexpected demands on your body. As a specialist pelvic health physiotherapist and pregnancy yoga instructor, Chloe’s here to support you, not just your bump.

At The Orchard Clinic, pregnancy physiotherapy sessions are designed to help you feel stronger, more comfortable, and confident throughout every stage of your pregnancy, whilst also preparing your body for labour, birth and a smoother postnatal recovery.

How an appointment can help

Your body is constantly adapting as your baby grows. You might experience:
  • Lower back or pelvic pain
  • Pelvic girdle pain (PGP)
  • Bladder symptoms or pelvic floor concerns
  • Abdominal separation (diastasis recti)
  • Posture strain or fatigue
Through a personalised assessment, Chloe can identify the root cause of your symptoms and guide you with practical, evidence-based treatment.

What to expect from your session

Each 1:1 appointment is tailored to you and may include:
  • A full assessment of posture, movement, and pelvic health
  • Gentle hands-on treatment
  • Pregnancy-safe exercises to build strength and stability
  • Pelvic floor and breathing techniques
  • Advice on daily movement, sleep, and comfort

“As a mum to 2 young daughters, I appreciate how hard it can be to dedicate time for yourself and I know from experience, more often than not, mums put themselves last.

The Postnatal Assessment is an opportunity for mums to give themselves the chance to take control of their body and allowing YOU to feel like YOU again. I will happily have your new baby join you in the appointment session, but if you can, then use the appointment as a chance to dedicate an hour to yourself and really focus in on your needs and recovery.

Your body deserves the recovery time and dedication from me to fully assess and help you on your journey back to fitness".

Pelvic Health

If you leak urine and/or have a heavy dragging feeling when you exercise, sneeze, cough or jump, physiotherapy can help.

I have really developed a passion for helping women to reduce the stigma and fear around any pelvic health complaint and to increase the awareness of the benefit of a physiotherapy assessment and treatment.

I have spoken to a lot of women who are either avoiding the trampoline, avoiding exercising or using pads and accepting that leaking or symptoms of prolapse is “normal”. Just because you’ve had a baby or you’re coming into or been through the menopause, for example, doesn’t mean it should be expected as part of the process. There are many different possible causes and treatment options, it’s not just a case of do your pelvic floor squeezes and it’ll fix the problem, every incidence of incontinence is unique to that person, so an individualised assessment much more effectively leads to an individualised management plan to help improve your symptoms.

Whether you have had children 2 months ago or 20 years ago, haven’t had children or suffering from peri- menopause or menopausal symptoms, then I am able to help. Leaking urine is common but not normal, so please get in touch to book, if this is you.

Musculoskeletal Therapy

I have always had a love for sport and physical activity and have always wanted to learn more about the human body, so prior to completing a degree in physiotherapy, I studied Sport and Exercise science at undergraduate level. It was a great introduction to explore the biomechanics and physiology of the body, which was consolidated during my physiotherapy degree. I believe this background has helped push my desire to help people return to physical activity following injury or surgery.

During my career I have worked both in private and NHS clinics. I spent 4 years at a specialist Orthopaedic hospital in Birmingham and was exposed to many different surgical techniques and post operative protocols both an inpatient and outpatient stages of recovery.

I therefore have experience in treating patients following:

  • Specialist adult and paediatric spinal surgery
  • Bone tumour removal and reconstruction in both adults and children
  • Joint replacement both primary and complex revisions of upper and lower limb
  • Upper and lower limb arthroscopies
  • Repetitive strain injury
  • Back and neck pain
  • Sports injury
